What brought you or your family to Fullerton or Orange County?

I was born in Long Beach, California in a lovely hospital overlooking the traffic circle and circle drive-in movie theatre. As a native, I have lived most of my life in SoCal.

Explain why you chose to study/work at Fullerton College.

My home in 1972, when I graduated from Los Alamitos High School was Cypress. When I went to visit the Cypress Community College campus, I inquired about the location of their theatre. When they showed me the blueprints of the “to be built soon” theatre, I decided to go to Fullerton College.

In what areas of college life were/are you engaged?

In Junior High School, I discovered theatre and began to pursue a formal education in it at Fullerton College. I sent all of my time, either in the Fullerton College theaters or across the street in Plummer Auditorium working for the Fullerton Civic Light Opera Company as their Stage Manager.

Describe what the college was like and your principal interests during your year(s) at the college. During your time at Fullerton College, who were people you had friendships with, were inspired by, or in some way made a difference in your time here, and why?

My primary inspiration was Prof. Todd Glenn who taught theatre design and technology. From him I learned how to learn, strive for uncompromising excellence, and (Though I did not know it at the time) how to teach.

What were some of the biggest changes or most significant events that took place during your time at the college?

I discovered that my career path was theatre design and technology rather than acting. I met my beautiful wife, Michaelene during my second semester. We were married in 1980.

What advice do you have for our current students?

Make your college years the focus of your life and learn all that you can from the faculty and staff. Commit to “Never Quit.”

The Caring Professor Sample

On behalf of the Student Caring International Community, THANK YOU JAMEL  for your guest contribution: How Uni Students Can Make Money Online.   We are currently using Evernote to gather and share information as we write our next book.  Professors de Roulet and Pecoraro

Why Your Opinion Matters:

Our book:The Caring Professor: A Guide to Effective, Rewarding, and Rigorous Teaching, was written with feedback from many educators and students, which was our plan all along. We began by outlining our thoughts on a series of topics, then we recorded them to share with the world. From the feedback we received, we were informed about the needs of the student caring community. We need your feedback so we may continue to fulfill our mission statement and help students, the world over.

Thank you!
