Is Becoming a CNA Worth It?

There are a lot of things, which prospective students look forward to. Colleges today offer a wide array of specializations, and choosing one can be the difference between a happy and a boring life. You have probably thought about what you can do with your own existence. This is where we can give an example, which many young people commonly forget – a job in nursing. Particularly, here we are going to say a thing or two about Certified Nursing Assistants, or CNAs for short. It is one career path, which can be a life changer for both you and the people around you.

What is a CNA after all?

Of course, we can’t get ahead of ourselves, and this is why we should talk about what exactly a CNA is, and what this type of professional actually does. Certified nursing assistants work directly under the supervision of licensed practical nurses, registered nurses and doctors. They take care of patients, who are not capable of dealing with their daily life in a proper manner. This might include help with bathing, sheet changing and providing comfort of life overall. Such specialists are communicative and always keep company for their patients. It is a highly altruistic profession.

But why should I consider it?

This can actually be answered quite simply. There is an abundance of reasons to become a CNA. Some of them will include:

  • Good payment – CNAs actually receive good income. Even though they are not superior in the medical hierarchy, there is great responsibility in the job. Being so, most specialists who do their job well get paid well. It is as simple as that.
  • Huge demand – There is great demand for specialists in the area. If you have decided to become a certified nursing assistant you will hardly have any trouble finding a job in the field. With each year the elderly population keeps increasing and this means that the demand for such professionals rises exponentially as well.
  • The nature of the job – It is easy to say that CNAs are altruistic in nature, or otherwise they wouldn’t do what they do. If you strive to help people in your daily life, you will definitely find your place doing the job.
  • Wide array of educational programs – There is an abundance of educational programs, which are available all over the world. From programs offered by the Red Cross, to community colleges, you will find something to suit you. The best thing about all these programs is the fact that they are affordable and short. You will be done well within a year and ready to work.

You can easily say that the CNA is a viable opportunity for all young people. This is why perhaps you could consider becoming one yourself. After all, there is nothing better than helping those in need. It is especially essential to consider this when you are student, who has dropped out of college for some reason. For those, who have no idea what to do with their life, this is yet another good call. Even if your main drive is not to help those in need. You can still get in it for the material goods.

The most important aspect about the decision to become a nurse is making the first step. You need to take action once you know this is what you want to do, and why shouldn’t you? The best way to take that first step is to go back to school and pursue a degree like a Master’s of Science in Nursing. Now, this doesn’t have to be an overwhelming task. You can easily attend classes online, which allows you to maintain control of your life while pursuing a valuable career. There’s no harm in going online to discover more about the numerous educational opportunities available.

Why Your Opinion Matters:

Our upcoming book:The Caring Professor: A Guide to Effective, Rewarding, and Rigorous Teaching, was written with feedback from many educators and students, which was our plan all along. We began by outlining our thoughts on a series of topics, then we recorded them to share with the world. From the feedback we received, we were informed about the needs of the student caring community. We need your feedback so we may continue to fulfill our mission statement and help students, the world over.

Thank you!
