8 Superb Practices for a Part-time Working Student

Colleges and universities are exciting places to help you gain knowledge and new opportunities. However, three issues affect a student’s life. These issues are  school, personal growth, and work. While studying and working is possible, it’s quite challenging to manage everything. Here are tips to help you study and work if you feel time-pressed.

 

 

1. Create long-term vision goals

 

You know the reason why you are studying. Right? You must be having many aspirations in life. Those are long-term goals. To stay motivated, write down your long-term vision goals. 

Include affirmations that you can say every day to stay motivated. It would be great if you printed such goals on a booklet.  Doing this not only motivates you but helps you to stay focused.

 

2.   Draft a to-do list

When you have many things to handle, you may feel overwhelmed. Maybe you have a book to read and work to do at the same time. You need to create a list of things you would like to do. Start with the most urgent tasks. 

You could write all the tasks and tick them as soon as you complete them. This helps you manage your time well and have enough time to rest as well.

 

3.   Avoid procrastinating

Delaying tasks is the worst enemy that can lead to the last time rush. The worst thing about being a student is exams won’t wait for you to be ready. If you do things according to your schedule, you won’t be caught up with issues. 

You could stop procrastinating by avoiding distractions like social media and other things that waste your time.

 

4.   Take good care of your health

When you get busy, you tend to forget to take good care of yourself. Did you know that your health contributes to practical time management skills and a good work ethic? 

You should take proper diet and exercise regularly to stay fit. Have enough sleep, drink enough water, and avoid unhealthy food. Taking good care of your health will help you beat deadlines and do everything efficiently.

 

5.   Take breaks regularly

Would you like to stay focused, motivated, and creative? Avoid working or studying continuously without breaks. Taking breaks relaxes your mind and helps your brain consolidate what it had previously learned. 

You could take a break and go for a short walk outside, grab some tea, or have a chat with someone.

 

6.   Create a routine

Would you like to make time management your habit? That’s possible if you create a routine. Starting and trying to stick to a routine is daunting. However, consistency is the secret. Once you get used to doing the same thing, you will have a habit of managing your time in that manner.

 

7.   Don’t multitask

When you have many things to do, it’s normal to feel like multitasking. While it may help you finish a set of tasks, it drains your energy. In the end, you may end up struggling to complete one job. It would be wise if you did one thing at a time.

 

8.   Have a day off

Have you considered having a day of work and school as well? Even if you have work breaks, you could still want to use that time to do some school work. 

You should create a balance between your education and work life. Take time off from books and studies to get new energy. New energy after a day off keeps you motivated and energetic.

Working and studying part-time doesn’t have to be tough. Try to do things moderately. Mind your health and remember rest is crucial for your productivity.
