Pre Graduation Prep – How To Avoid The Stress

Jul 9, 2015 | Students

Even though graduation is an exciting time, preparing for it can be quite time consuming. Fortunately, there are many things you can do that will help make the next school year a lot less stressful. You have to make sure you’re ready to face the rigors of senior year studies and also be ready to handle whatever extracurriculars come into play as well. Below is a list of tips for preparing for the next school year and college graduation and keeping your stress levels manageable.

Pre Graduation Prep - How To Avoid The Stress

Visit Your Campus Career Center Often
Many students worry about whether they will be able to find a job after graduation. It can be difficult to find a job even if you graduate with a 4.0. If you are worried about finding a job after graduation, then you should definitely consider visiting your campus career center. The staff members can help you put together a resume. They can also help you find jobs in your area, which will be a lot easier for you to find a job if you have someone who can point you in the right direction.

Start Planning Now
Senior students have a lot on their plates. Not only are they spending a lot of time putting in applications, but they also have to keep up with their studies. Procrastination will make your school year a lot more stressful which is why it is important for you to start planning your schedule as early as possible. There will probably be days when you won’t be able to get everything done, but you should plan to tackle your most important priorities first and give yourself a break when you need it.

Start Getting Your Recommendations
When employers are trying to determine whether a particular candidate will be a good fit for a job, they often ask for a letter of recommendation. You should start getting your letters of recommendations as soon as you can. These letters are also necessary for people who want to go to graduate school. If you plan on going for a master’s of science you should definitely start thinking about what jobs you already have or have held that can give you a leg up when it comes to recommendations and referrals.

Find Time for Fun
Fun often goes to the bottom of many people’s priority list when it is time for them to graduate. However, in order to keep your stress under control, you will have to make time for some fun activities. Spend some time hanging out with your friends. You can also work out to alleviate stress. Take a yoga class!

You might be surprised how much better you feel mentally and physically after you’ve pushed yourself through these ancient poses. It’s a rejuvenation and a moment just to think about your health. Overall wellness is key to handling stress.

The next school year can be very stressful if you are getting ready to graduate. The good news is, you can keep stress under control by planning early, visiting your campus resource center, and getting your letters of recommendation. You will also need to find time for fun activities and workouts. In no time you’ll be graduate ready!
